The last week has featured some very cold temperatures and bursts of light snow. The active weather has been along the subtropical jetstream over the last 7 to 10 days. With major storms evolving in the Central and Southern Plains and slamming the East Coast. Another storm has been intensifing over Texas today and once again will head to the Eastern Seaboard. Highs will hang in the lower 30s Friday and Saturday with next system bringing changes through the weekend. We will have some flurries tonight and a better chance of light snow and flurries will return Saturday and Sunday. Light accumulations are expected but it will be turning colder with plenty of wind Saturday Night into Sunday. In fact, temperatures will be in the teens most of the day Sunday.

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010Our next winter storm is on the way! Winter Weather Advisories have been posted from Noon Thursday until Noon Friday for Omaha and surrounding areas. The sequence of events will unfold as follows…patchy fog and freezing drizzle will develop in spots overnight into early Thursday. As we head through the day Thursday we will see a wintry mix of sleet, rain and snow as temperatures warm to 35. Everything turns to snow late Thursday into Friday Morning with snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches expected. Flurries will linger into Saturday with another shot of lighter snow on Sunday.
