Hello all,
I know since the last “big blizzard” there has been a lot of chatter about big storms coming each of the following weeks. I heard it last week for the end of this week, we got to 40 today, and I heard it a few days ago about next week. Craig actually has looked at the models going out the next 10 to 14 days and what he posted is what it looks like this afternoon. We could get some rain next week and then maybe a combo of rain and snow with the second system. It still looks warm next week and there are signs of colder temperatures moving back in toward the end of the month. I think a lot of this is coming from the farmers almanac as it did good with at least one of our blizzards. I will caution folks of this, the farmers almanac is based on weather cycles and years of weather patterns. Predicting weather in this part of the country one to two weeks in advance can be very, well, unpredictable. LOL Just my two cents, but it is fun to see what happens. I need to pick up the old farmers almanac, haven’t looked at one all year. Have a good night
Next weekends storm has gone south of on the gfs, which is good for more snow on the backside Though the 12z doesnt really make much sense considering we are always north and northwest of the low pressure, and the freezing line doesnt move as fast. nevertheless looking like winter storm potential across the area.
Wow GFS is showing ice storm
looks very interesting from what ive seen just by averaging all the weather stations forecasts and all the weather sites ive noticed about a degree drop per day for tue wed temp time frme i think we will be in for some ice and even if the air temp is 33 degrees dosent mean surface temps will warm thst fast. We are in for an ice storm folks from the way things are looking keep tabs on ur local weather stations whether its kmtv ketv or wowt but personaly i’d be checkin the nws in case u dont know weather .gov find your area on there warnings map on the homepage and scroll all the way down and click on forecst discussion for a detailed look at what the storm will do but also be advisecd they usualy only update it every 10 to 12 hours also check out intelecast.com for a good interqactive radar although weather.coms interactive isnt to bad either i hope i gsve some good info but if ur a weather freak like me im sure you already konw that lol:)
You saw the GFS, it’s looks pretty obvious what happened. Rain. And lots of it, next week. That’s my call. The first system will go back and forth with freezing rain and rain, accumulating less than 0.25″. That’s just my guess. The second system looks to be moderate rains and flooding to wrap around light to moderate snows with wind. But you tell me, what did you think?
My standards are set high here at Nebraska. I want snow. I won’t be satisfied here at Nebraska until we are winning championship snowstorms. I don’t care about all of those stats, I really don’t get into that, that’s just for the public. I just focus on snowfall, and getting lots of it. I don’t care about those sunny days, those cloudy days, those foggy days, or whatever the heck it is, I want snow, and that’s how I want it.
That’s just my two cents on this weeks snow. BTW, anybody have any gum? My 12th pack ran out for the day.

The latest models don’t know what they are doing for next weekend..the CMC is furthest south and i believe that’s where its gonna end up..because if you look at the storm track all winter that’s where it has been…and its not gonna track NW of omaha that much as the GFS says because climatically i doesn’t happen in late january
12z NAM shows up to .75″ of precip… Could all of that be ice??? That’s a lot of ice!
Ok i see the comments are closed for the most recent post but i was wondering when you think we might be getting another nice round of snow only got the tv stations and there sites cant see any models my computers actin up so help a fellow enthusiast out here, any thoughts Ryan, C.T, craig any of the regulars commentiators? lol i made a new word
