Arctic high pressure will drop over Omaha tonight bringing the core of the cold air with it. Temperatures will drop to near record lows here in Omaha. I am forecasting low temperatures across the area from -15 to -25 tonight with a low of -20 in the metro. Our record for tomorrow morning is -24 set in 1886. If there is any good news the winds will be light tonight into Saturday morning but any air flow will put wind chill values from -20 to -35. Some even better news is on the way as temperatures get back to 22 for a high on Sunday and climb to 30 by the middle of next week!
Have a good weekend
Ryan
Ryan, what is the long range forecast for the rest of January, February and March? Will we beseeing the snow totals topped? Thanks
Not sure what the problem is. The blog is still updated just as frequently as when Dean was here and my opinion is that CT’s entries are quite detailed and very much worth reading.
Wild rumors floating around that there is another big snowstorm coming. I’ve also heard rain. People have been saying late this month. Is this true?
There will likely be a big storm later next week, probably two storms before months end, first one could be rain, second is a different story with more colder air.
Sounds like the Big One, the 2-foot snowstorm, is supposed to hit in 2 weeks, starting in the northern Colorado plains and then spreading across Nebraska. That would not be good, 2 feet of snow on top of what we have already. Hope they are wrong.
Yeah, I know some sources that would suggest that our first system around the 23-24th being light rain and isoalted t-storms with severe wx SE and the second one being a rain to big snowstorm event. Though too early to tell, I really think we could see a big snowstorm late Jan and several more before the winter is over.
And don’t worry lol, it is way to early to predict 2 feet, so we really don’t know at this point if we will see snow or rain, and also, the warm temps and rain will melt much of our snow we have on the ground and cause some flooding.
