2 storms…plenty of snow and potential blizzard conditions

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

ALOT to talk about today but not enough time…..1st off, a winter weather advisory is in effect through tonight for much of the area.  A stripe of 3 to 5″ of snow will accumulate thoughout the I80 corridor.  A bit of wind with this too with snow ratios quite high.  We will see a break in the action on Monday then the “main event”   It’s a darn good thing this low is NOT going to close off or we could be staring at one monster storm!!  However, it will be quite nasty from Tuesday into Wednesday morning.  Models are coming together now in targeting areas JUST south of Omaha with 8-14″ of snow!!!  Omaha will be right on the northern end of this heaviest snow band.  As the low deepens on Tuesday winds will increase and travel on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will be VERY difficult!!!  Winds will increase to 25-30 mph late on Tuesday into Wednesday morning producing blizzard conditions.  Again, the worst part of this storm is expected to hit just south of town but I still expect around 6 to 10″ here around omaha with lesser amounts north of town.  Enjoy the snow!!
